Aloe barbadensis (commonly known as "Aloe") is a cactus-like succulent plant that was used abundantly in ancient Egypt and Greece, and in Chinese medicine as early as the 11th century.
The soothing gel from Aloe is obtained from the inner filet of its fresh leaves. It is rich in polysaccharides and glycoproteins - active compounds that together reduce pain and inflammation, stimulate cell proliferation and promote skin repair.
