About Lemon Essential Oil:
Essential Oil of Lemon greatly assists with the management of oily, congested skin. It is excellent added to a massage oil where stimulation is desired, and makes a beneficial antimicrobial wash for cuts and grazes. Lemon essential oil provides a crisp, fresh and enlivening aroma when used in vaporization during periods of study.
Add a couple of drops to your dishwashing soap dispenser before running the load. Not only will it add a little disinfecting power, but your kitchen will smell great. Added to laundry (along with a fragrance-free, environmentally friendly detergent), lemon essentail oil will freshen up the load and leave clean clothes with a delicate citrusy aroma.
Phototoxic Effects of Lemon Essential Oil
Our organic lemon essential oil has been unadultered, meaning it is in its completely natural state. As such, it does contain chemical constituents which are known to be phototoxic, particularly if skin is exposed to UV radiation immediately after applying the product. ('Phototoxic' means the product can increase the chance of a sunburn when applied topically). Therefore, if citrus essential oil is to be used in a leave-on topical product (eg. body lotion, massage oil), the maximum concentration recommended by the International Fragrance Association (IFA) (bergamot, orange, mandarin, lemon, grapefruit) is up to 0.5%, depending upon concentration of terpenes. This is particularly important if skin is going to be exposed to UV radiation soon after application of a leave-on product containing citrus essential oils. To put it another way, if you have 30 grams of skin lotion or carrier oil, up to a maximum of 1.5 grams of citrus essential oil is considered safe by the IFA*.
