A Little about our Organic Growing Methods

To Alchemilla, growing the organic ingredients for our skin care products ourselves, means that we are doing our part to heal the earth while promoting a cleaner, safer, less toxic living environment for all beings.

Rather than an approach of "kill everything we don't want" (and effectively kill everything we do want in the process), we use holistic growing techniques that promote balance and vitality in the soil and encourage beneficial insects to stay, work and multiply.

In addition to the physically tangible aspects of growing plants (eg. adding compost to the garden) we also consider the unseen forces that impact the crop's robustness. We plant, harvest and process our raw materials in accordance the astrological charts and use homeopathic remedies to holistically address imbalances and improve soil vitality, similar in nature to biodynamically grown crops.

With organic growing there is, most notably, an absence of toxic chemical run-off from our property (which would otherwise poison waterways and reinforce the eco-system nightmare we currently face). We also avoid producing skin care products that contain poisonous chemical pesticide residues. In addition, we do our part to heal a small portion of the earth.

In our many years of horticultural experience, we have found that only poison-free, naturally fertile and well-balanced soil is the only means of producing superior plants that are brimming with aroma and vitality. These plants, in turn produce an extract that is purer, more complete and, ultimately, more potent than any conventionally grown material.
