Why Grow Organic?

To Alchemilla, growing our own organic skin care ingredients means that we are doing our part to heal the earth while promoting a cleaner, safer, less toxic living environment for all beings.

Rather than an approach of "kill everything we don't want" (and effectively kill everything we do want in the process), we use holistic growing techniques that promote balance and vitality in the soil and encourage beneficial insects to stay, work and multiply.

In addition to the tangible aspects of growing plants, we also consider the various unseen forces that ultimately impact the quality and vitality of the plants we grow, ie. those of planetary positioning and moon rhythms. We have incorporated certain biodynamic growing principles into our cultivation methods, such as observing the astrological planting calendar and utilizing plant-based homeopathic extracts as problem-solvers, to address these aspects of the growth cycle.

With our organic growing techniques, not only is there an absence of toxic chemical run-off from our property (which would otherwise poison waterways and essentially support the eco-system nightmare we currently face) we also avoid producing skin care products that contain poisonous chemical residues. In addition, we do our part to heal our small portion of the earth, which in turn contributes toward healing the planet as a whole, living entity.

In our many years of horticultural experience, we have found that only poison-free, naturally fertile and well-balanced soil is the only means of producing superior plants that are brimming with aroma and vitality, which in turn produce an extract that is more pure, more complete and, ultimately, more potent than any conventionally grown material.
